Senior Congress leader VC Shukla is no more

Senior Congress leader VC Shukla, who was injured in a gruesome Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh last month, has died at a hospital in Gurgaon.

The 84-year-old former union minister had sustained three bullet wounds after he was caught in the middle of an ambush by Maoists on a Congress convoy in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district on May 25.




Prior to being moved to Gurgaon's Medanta Hospital , Mr Shukla underwent an operation at a Jagdalpur hospital for removal of the bullets.


Vidya Charan Shukla (2 August 1929 - 11 June 2013) at Raipur, Central Provinces and Berar. His father Pt. Ravishankar Shukla was a lawyer, freedom fighter, veteran Congressman, Premier of Central Provinces and Berar and the first Chief Minister of reorganised Madhya Pradesh.

Vidya Charan Shukla graduated from Morris College, Nagpur in 1951, by getting a B.A.. He started Allwyn Cooper Private Ltd., which was organising big-game safari and photo expeditions of wildlife in Central Indian forests in addition to Manganese and Dolomite mining.
He is son of Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla first Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh known for his Grand Old Man persona and robust masculinity.
Died on 11th June, 2013.
