Appreciation of someone's performance can be shown in varied ways. If the performance involves kids then the way to express changes. What if the event was a patriotic one? It too does have a varied way which is supposed to be humble and decent. But a policeman has done all of these wrong. He climbed the stage took out cash from his pocket, circled them in the air and showered them on School Girls.
The whole event was just spoilt with just this one gesture from him. There might be people who back the policeman's action as just a simple unintended appreciative gesture, but the place and the performers and the type of the event are very delicate to be taken in a light-hearted way.
Promod Walke, the policeman trapped in this situation is a constable from Nagpur city of Maharashtra. The whole event was getting very huge video coverage from parents phones to school's videographer. All of these have captured the gesture of the man.

Required action was taken on the constable after the parents demanded it. A detailed probe was initiated in his case and he was relieved of his duties and suspended. He was at the time of the event present there, who just dropped by to watch the performances.
It was a Zilla Parishad School, where at that moment Class 6 school students were performing to a patriotic song on the stage. The constable was later found to be in an inebriated state when he has done the gesture. Constable defends himself saying that he came there to settle some dispute.
And few people in the audience collected money and have asked him to dedicate them to the girls. A superior responds and says, "But after stepping on the stage, the constable’s act was found objectionable, though his body language did not suggest vulgarity".
There was surely no vulgarity in the situation, nor the simple intentions of the man in appreciating the girls. But the way this was done has been objectionable demeaning the cause and neglecting the tender ages of the kids. He could have given some chocolates or handed cash when they got down. But showering was awkward.
