The beach named after the Demon Jalandhar is without any doubt one of the most beautiful, and unflustered. The water is calm and clear and without any undercurrents. It is bereft of the usual hustle bustle associated with any sunshine beach.
A small memorial is located at one of the hills close to the beach containing a stone face of the demon Jalandhar. Legend has it that the head was severed by the Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Vishnu.

A temple dedicated to Goddess Chandrika is also located in the vicinity. The beauty of the beach has been further enhanced by developing the area through beautification and Illumination

If history of Daman spans back 2 millenniums then the history of Chakratirth would make one dizzy. This beach which can also be seen an attachment of the town is beautiful located right at the centre of Diu.

The beach takes its name from the ancient scripts that discern the story of the demolition of the demon Jallander by Lord Vishnu. Lord who carried his Sudarshan Chakra (disc with star-like points) is dais to have unleashed his chakra on the demon who had turned out to be uglier than he was by virtue of extracting boons from various gods. The Sudarshan Chakra was left at the beach after the job was completed and thus the beach came to be known as Chakratirth beach

Daman is a city and a part of the Indian Union Territory of Daman and Diu. It was discovered by Vasco de Gama, in the year 1498, and was a Portuguese colony. Daman is one of the most popular tourist destinations. This is because of its relatively unknown beaches and the freedom to drink liquor. It is also very well connected by means of a National Highway (NH8).

Daman, however, has a very heavy rainy season, and hence the best time to visit is between October and May. The summers are slightly dry and humid, but the nights are much cooler. The average temperature is 30?C so it is advisable to get an air-conditioned room. During the months of October to May, hotels will be packed, so plan and book in advance.

Being a popular destination, the rooms in Daman start at around Rs 2,500 for a deluxe room and can go up to Rs 4,000 for an air-conditioned room. However, most of these hotels are situated near the beach, and offer lovely views of the sea.
