Jetti Veera Raghavulu, better known as J. V. Raghavulu was an eminent Indian Music director and Playback singer . He started as playback singer and became a music director after the sudden death of Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao. His debut was Drohi (1970) of Suresh Productions. He scored music to about 172 films . He belonged to an agricultural family in Ramachandrapuram, East Godavari district. His parents were Veeraswami Naidu and Adilaxmi. He was one of the six siblings. He learned acting and singing from Bhadracharyulu who used to organize Harischandra play .

He was was lastly felicitated at an event organized by Chimatamusic.com in collaboration with Sangam Academy, at Prasad Labs. Literature laureate C. Narayana Reddy, chief guest for the evening, along with veteran singer P. Susheela felicitated J.V. Raghavulu. Chimatamusic.com head honcho Suresh Mantrala announced that through a plea made via their site Chimatamusic.com was able to raise up to nine thousand US dollars for the medical treatment of the ailing music director.
Singer P. Susheela also made a donation of twenty thousand rupees for J.V.Raghavulu’s treatment. Also pitching in their bit for a cause were film director Sekhar Kammula (Rs.10,000) actor Tanikella Bharani and singer Vijaya Lakshmi. J.V. Raghavulu, who started his musical career as the legendary Ghantasala’s assistant went on to compose some very memorable tunes for over 175 films. In the recent years deteriorating health and financial state had a toll on the veteran’s condition.
He was not well for the past two months and breathed his last at his residence in Mangalavarapupeta area in Rajahmundry at around 3 AM today.
May his soul rest in peace !!!
Leaving studies and without informing the parents, he left home, reached Madras and worked under Ghantasala for long time. He was there with him from early morning to late night learning the nuances of playback singing and composing music.
Ghantasala used to look after him as his son. He composed thousands of songs. His memorable songs include Janani Janmabhoomischa (Bobbili Puli), Veena Naadi Teega Needi Teegachatu Raagamundi, Tarangini O Tarangini, Ee Jeevana Tarangalalo (Jeevana Tarangalu) and many others.
