In an hour-long interaction with journalists in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi once again was asked about his marriage. One thing which no one can stop asking Rahul Gandhi is his marriage plans and he did give a sarcastic reply. He said "I'm married to the Congress Party" and has no plans to get married at least for now, as his whole objective is to oust Prime Minister Narendra Modi from power.

Currently, Rahul Gandhi is in Hyderabad for meeting committee presidents and senior leaders to discuss the steps to take prior to the parliament elections. He predicted that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would not even get 230 Lok Sabha seats and hence there was no question of Modi becoming Prime Minister again.

“We are talking to several like-minded parties, including those who were associated with us in the past and some new allies, to form a grand alliance to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party in the next elections,” he said. The Congress President evaded a direct reply to a question on who would be the Prime Minister in the event of Congress and other non-BJP parties getting a majority.

Asked whether the Congress would follow the Karnataka experiment (where it asked its alliance partner’s chief to head the government) after the next general elections, Gandhi said: “First things first. We are coming together to defeat the BJP. Once the objective is achieved, then comes the issue of who the next Prime Minister would be. I am not thinking about it now.”

Asked about Andhra Pradesh, where Congress drew a blank in the 2014 polls, he said the party was improving its position. Stating that the Congress was on course to win three major states of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh in the upcoming assembly elections, Gandhi exuded confidence that it would win Telangana state as well, if not Andhra Pradesh.

Rahul Gandhi also raised a concern about the promises that Narendra Modi has given to the people. He said, "Modi had failed to fulfill his promise of providing two crore jobs annually. China provides employment to 50,000 people in 24 hours while in India only 458 people get employment during this duration."
