MS Dhoni is known to have a great and rare combination of sensibility and aggression. He has proved to be a savior of the team in several complex situations. We know that Dhoni does miracles on the field and his cricketing skills for which every player really respects him. Among all the talents and qualities, Dhoni has that one special talent which he always judges the wicket very accurately keeping behind the wickets.
He is one of the greatest captains ever the world has produced. He has done a lot to the team in his captaincy and won all the ICC tournaments under his leadership. In January 2017, Dhoni gave a shock to the cricketing fraternity by giving up captaincy in limited overs after leading 199 ODIs. He remained an adviser to Virat Kohli and now to Rohit Sharma.
The team management has delivered a googly that surprised everyone from fans to experts after MS Dhoni has been handed captaincy of the Indian cricket team after almost two years, against Afghanistan in the last Super Four match of the Asia Cup at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on Tuesday.
MS Dhoni walked out for the toss as the Indian captain in place of both Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, with both being rested. By leading team India in this match, Dhoni reached the milestone of captaining his country in 200 ODIs. It was a sight that fans of Dhoni and team India missed for a long time since Dhoni gave up captaincy.
MS Dhoni at the toss said, “We were looking to bowl first. Quite a few changes. Both the openers are missing, Bhuvi, Bumrah, and Chahal are also missing. Everybody who hadn’t played in this tournament gets a chance. They are part of the 15 and are representing India. We’ll have to keep the intensity up. It is important for them to adjust to the line and length they need to bowl. I was not really sure of where I am standing. I have captained 199 ODIs, so this gives me an opportunity to make it 200. It’s all destiny and I have always believed in that. It’s not in my control, once I left captainship. Good to complete 200, but I don’t think it really matters.”
