Hyderabad Traffic Police in this year 2018 has registered 3,884 cases of mInors Driving Vehicles. The cases were registered against the parents, vehicle owners and minors who are involved. By letting the minors drive vehicles without a license age is a punishment the parents also have to bear along with their kids. 42 persons along with the parents of the minors were convicted by the respective district court.
28 minors were sent to Juvenile Home for correction facilities. Few of the parents in extreme cases were even sent to jail for a week. 12 to 14 convicted parents were jailed. The Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad, Traffic Wing, Anil Kumar says, "minors in excitement drive vehicles very recklessly".
Adding to the measures they took he says, "We took it seriously and conducted a special drive against minor driving. This year of 2018 so far till the month of November we have registered around 3,884 cases". Till the month of June around 643 cases were registered by the Hyderabad Traffic Police.
The special drive is to prevent accidents due to rash driving and carelessness by minors. A situation which can be easily nabbed by punishing the parents who let this thing happen in the first place. There has been another dedicated special drive against accidents by vehicles with school children.
Drunk driving cases were also booked and they were around 11,500 cases. This huge number was only until the month of May. Later which the number has seen huge benchmarks. Out of these, serious offenders and repetitive offenders were even sent to jail. They were of 2,100 in number.
What if these minors can get licences? The minors of ages 16 and above can apply for a Driving Licence for a gearless vehicle only. This is a License registered under the Government. An electric two-wheeler vehicle, without gears, and with a low cc of around 50 is the only vehicles involved under this Minor's Driving License.
