After the win of Congress in recent elections, while the most controversial PM of India -Mr Narendra Modi is in news again, Manmohan Singh has sparked headlines. At the launch of his five-volume book titled 'Changing India', he bashed Narendra Modi on calling him 'silent.' He claimed that he was never a person who would be afraid of media and press conferences.
The former Prime Minister of India appealed, "People say I was a silent Prime Minister. But I wasn't the Prime Minister who was afraid of talking to the press. I met the press regularly, and after every foreign trip I undertook, I gave a press conference.
His appeal targeted Mr Modi for he doesn't do press conferences often enough. The prime minister is known to use social media well to know about the things. A radio show called 'Man Ki Baat' too delivers his messages well. The statement of Mr Manmohan Singh also targeted the fact that Modi travels across the globe very often and creates headlines for the same. The man has travelled to 84 countries in 4 years till now and the total cost incurred in his travels sums around 1,484 crore INR.
As per NDTV, our prime minister has not addressed a single press conference since 2014 when came into power. The same is criticised by many including Rahul Gandhi who once had hinted, "try one someday, because it's fun having questions thrown at you."
"Life has been a great adventure and enterprise, and I have no regrets. The country has been immensely kind to me and I will never be able to repay this debt," Manmohan Singh summed up his arguments. While the five-volume book called 'Changing India' will include life-instances of our former prime minister, a film called 'The Accidental Prime Minister' will soon be released in India. The film is based on Manmohan Singh's life story and stars big names like Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna.
