Indian Navy Day is the day we have dedicated to commemorate our warriors and celebrate the accomplishments. The whole nation is feeling proud for the achievements our Indian Navy has shown.
The sons of the sea, guarding our waters are remembered for their sacrifices. Why did we declare December 4th as our Navy Day? To commemorate the success of 'Operation Trident' during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971.
On this day in the year 1971, Our Indian Navy has crashed four Pakistan Navy ships, destroyed the Karachi Harbour, Emptied fuel tanks and killed over 500 Pakistan Personnel. All of this, with minimal damage to our Indian Navy. This attack has weakened and destroyed Pakistan's Western Naval command which helped the nation of Bangladesh.

Later this western weakening led to the liberation of Bangladesh from the clutches of East Pakistan. In detail, six missiles were fired at four Pak warships, destroying their whole supplies and cargo ship too. Then, our Indian Navy returned with its ships to Mumbai Port, without any maximum damage.
The missile boats are under a name, 'Karachi Strike Group' consist of three Veer class boats named, INS Nirghat, Nipat and Veer. Accompanied by two Arnala class Anti-Submarine Corvettes named INS Katchall and Kiltan and a tanker named, INS Poshak.

Interestingly, on their way back to Mumbai after the attack and destruction, one of the Navy sailors wrote these words on the missile hanger of INS Nipat, 'KILLERS'. Since then that Squadron came to be known as 'Killers'. And December 3rd is thus celebrated as 'Killer Day' by the Indian Navy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also extended his wishes to the Indian Navy on Twitter saying, "Navy Day greetings to all valorous personnel of the Indian Navy and their families. India is grateful to our Navy for protecting the nation and the commendable role the Navy plays during disaster relief ".
