The festive and celebration of the 'Kumbh', that is the 'Festival of the Sacred Pitcher' is all set to begin. It is based on a Hindu Mythology, which the followers have been honouring it for centuries. Not restricted to only one particular faith, it is a congruence of many who visit from across the world. Tens of Millions of people visit the celebration, spread for 55 days. The 'Triveni Sangam', the sacred confluence of the three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati is highlighted.
Bathing in the confluence of the three rivers is believed to wash away our sins and help rediscover ourselves. The attendees are from various walks of life. From Ascetics, Saints, Sadhus, Sadhvis, Kalpvasis, to the Pilgrims, millions shimmer the waters.
For such a huge footfall, 800 extra trains have been facilitated to aid the pilgrims, in operation at various stations of Allahabad District. The special trains will have a Kumbh Mela pilgrimage look on them. Chief of North Central Railway, Amit Malaviya has said, "The Railways have given space for 'Paint My City' initiative at its stations and residential colonies which is another big branding exercise for the Kumbh Mela".
The 2019's Kumbh Mela, is going to be held at 'Allahabad Triveni Sangam' in Uttar Pradesh, now renamed as 'Prayagraj Kumbh Mela'. The celebration which is sacred to the Hindu Religion is celebrated four times over a period of 12 years. Each time in a different place, often rotating among the four fixed venues.
The 'Kumbh Mela' is considered a symbol of peace and harmony. It was honoured and got itself a place in the list of, "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity", by the UNESCO in the year 2017. Malviya has also reported having ideas to promote local culture, by putting up stalls showcasing the heritage, art and the culture of the land.
