Punjab AAP MLA Aman Arora had declined to accept the travel allowances from the Government. After he had attended a meeting at the State's Assembly, he was very disappointed that the First Day of the Assembly's Winter Session was adjourned in 11 minutes. The House did not last for a strong 11 minutes and nothing related to Public was discussed. He quoted saying that it was a waste of Public Money.
Aman Arora mentions that in a recent meeting, the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was reported saying that One Day Of The Session Costs Rs 70 Lakh to the State Exchequer. Considering that it was a total waste of Public's money, he surrendered the Travel Allowances to the concerned sources.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, he wrote that his conscience did not allow him to accept the money that came in through allowances like Travel, Dearness and others. In his words, " the House which was adjourned within 11 minutes after paying obituaries to the departed souls, and no issue concerning the state or the public was discussed".
The legislator from the Sunam constituency after mentioning CM's Remarks on the huge cost of conducting one day session, he questions the CM for this gesture. "How could CM, his Government and the speaker be so insensitive that they let Rs 70 Lakh of public money go down the drain for just 11 minutes".
Arora continues talking about it in a press release and says, "There should have been a sitting which may be convened after a short interval to discuss public issues". The legislator had sought action from the Speaker of the House for reconvening to discuss public issues in a letter written addressed to the Speaker.
The AAP MLA of Sunam, Arora wants reasons for the action and takes his stand while asking. " When the state is under a debt of Rs 2.5 Lakh Crore, farmers are committing suicide, there are no jobs for the youth, industry and trade are in shambles, teachers are forced to work on reduced salaries, such kind of wasteful spending reflects the insensitive attitude of the State Government towards the State's Fiscal Health".
The House not only was adjourned soon as it began but the Winter Session of the Punjab Assembly which was supposed to last for one whole day or more was wrapped up within a day. Started on December 13th, must last until December 15th, but gets curtailed on December 14th. This irresponsibility shall not look good on elected leaders.
