After a series of movies that didn't go well with both Rajinikanth and Director Shankar, the latter's sequel to the 2010's blockbuster Robo has finally taken the movie buffs by storm. 2.0 opened to mostly positive reviews on Thursday. The sequel to 2010 blockbuster Enthiran has Rajinikanth reprising his roles of doctor Vaseegaran and Chitti, the robot.
As expected most of the audience preferred watching the movie in 3D. With shows starting as early as 4 AM in several centers, the film is garnering a good response despite having a mid-week release. Outside and inside the cinema halls, Rajinikanth fans did everything to prove their love for the demi-God of Indian cinema. And needless to say, the effect was its massive opening.

Directed by S Shankar, 2.0 casts Rajinikanth in dual roles and Akshay Kumar as the villain. Back then, sources revealed that the movie is made on a budget of Rs 500 crore. Ahead of the film's release, the makers had reportedly recovered Rs 370 crore through the sale of satellite and digital rights of the film.
Now with the current box office collections, it is expected that both satellite rights and post-release earnings, the movie has collected over Rs 800 Crores. Rs 370 Crores pre-release and with all the language releases included Rs 400 Crores plus after release. In this way, Robo 2.0 is absolutely the highest grosser for Akshay Kumar and will most probably emerge as the Highest grosser in India in no time.
