After the construction of the Statue of Unity, what followed is more than just celebrations. Some liberals shouted against the idea for the cost was very expensive while some are just standing under the pride of the same. Meanwhile, Maharashtra has been planning for more. Rs 3643.78 crore statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is the plan that is going to increase the glory of the state and the nation n number of times.
The construction will take quite a time and will probably be over by the end of 2022 or in 2023 and the statue will be placed in the Arabian sea off the Mumbai coast. On 1st November, the state had approved the files and the budget of Rs 3700.84 crore for the project but as per sources, the cost budget is updated to 56.70 crore INR less, i.e, 3643.78.
"Amounts of Rs 112.68 crore, Rs 56.34 crore and Rs 140.85 crore are allocated for the contingency fund, computerisation, and centage charges, respectively. A project management consultant would be paid Rs 82.46 crore while Rs 76.73 crore is for construction of a jetty," stated GR.
"Construction of balance pedestal building works, architectural works, electrical works, mechanical works, construction of Entrance Forecourt will take place in 2020 21"
The statue of Shivaji Maharaj will be constructed on a budget of 2581 crore INR and Rs 309.72 crore will be the charge of GST. Security infrastructure shall cost Rs 236 crore while Rs 45 crore will be spent on water and electricity supply at the constructed statue.
A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) which shall be responsible for the repairs and study tours will take amounts of Rs 1 crore and Rs 2 crore.
An enormous amount of Rs 36.86 crore has already been spent on the project which is not even started yet. Rs 8 crore was spent on a groundwork ceremony initiated by the Public Works Department.
