If there has to be something that literally unites all the citizens of our country, it is cricket. Cricket forms too have evolved over the time, and now what gathers the most audience, is T-20 cricket -especially IPL. IPL is all ready to roar in 2019 and is done with the buying of players for new teams. The highlight of this season of the league has been Varun Chakravarthy who is bought by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping price of Rs 8.4 crore
The 27 years old who used to earn 20,000 INR per project in his profession as an architect, came with a base price of mere 20 lakhs INR and became one of the most expensive players of the season. The cricketer tells that he was expecting to be picked at the base price only. “I had no contacts, didn’t know any player or coach. I randomly went into the Abdul Jabbar cricket academy. They said they take people only below 20. I was much older, beard and all. They initially rejected me because of my age, but I convinced them saying I'll just bowl for three hours every day. All I would do there was bowl. It gave me happiness,” the cricketer told Times Of India.
In fact, I went for my first TNPL trial as a batsman. At the trials, there were plenty of better batsmen from higher divisions. I knew I could bowl a carrom ball then, although I hadn't tried it out even in a league match. I just bowled there because I had to do something different. A video analyst called Hari was impressed, and he passed on the word to Robin Singh (Karaikudi Kaalais head coach) and they picked me,” he continued.
