India's recent warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI at the Sydney Cricket Ground has just witnessed a funny and a rare wicket. Within no time, the Happy celebration of an unexpected wicket turned sour. Virat Kohli was furious on a run-out decision by the umpire in the same match.
Kohli left the ground furiously as the square-leg umpire just turned down a supposed run-out. There were no cameras at the warm-up match and so an option for a third umpire could not happen. Cricket Australia XI was responding well to India's 358 run score. They had got off to a good start, all credits to the openers of the day D'Arcy Short and Max Bryant.
Soon into the match, we were about to witness and bag a breakthrough. But, all the Indian Players were left disappointed as a supposed run-out appeal was declined. The Umpire had turned out a clear run-out appeal. The run-out so happened.
Into the 10th over of the Australian Innings, Batsman Bryant flicked Umesh Yadav's delivery through the mid-wicket region. He pushed really hard for three runs soon after comfortably completing two runs in the time. However, in the meantime, the fielder could pick up the ball and immediately threw it back to Umesh. Umesh, who in turn managed to get a direct hit at the striker's end.
Everyone was quiet, the Indian Players then appealed for a wicket, but the umpire turned it down. Kohli then asked for a Third umpire reference but there was no provision for such in the match. Then the supposed run-out was replayed many times to compensate for the third umpire. They suggested that it was a very close call.
Batsmen Bryant and Short later added 114run for their first wicket. A score India broke through, in their 19th over when R Ashwin caught Bryant for a 62. The 65th ball knock was filled with 9 fours and 1 six. Later Short has scored a 74 off 91 balls. A tough day for India's bowlers.
The end, CA XI went to stumps at 356/6 at two runs behind India's first innings score.
