The time for exams is nearing. Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducting exams for 10th and 12th Class students has given them a special provision. The board has decided to allow the students to appear for their final exams at a later period than what is scheduled. This provision was only for those students who are representing the Country in various International Sporting Events. This sanction comes after multiple requests from the students over the past few years.
The CBSE Board has held a meeting regarding this matter. After which they have decided to provide for a special provision, in the case of exams by sporting individuals. They have made this clear so that the students would not have to face a clash between the exams and their schedules of competition.
Members of the Board opined that facilitating the students with such a feasible option would help them to not to forego any of the two and excel in both the fields. In the months of March-April 2018, the board has given concession to 9 such students studying in CBSE Schools from all over the country to attend exams after their event.
The sporting events if coincided with the exam dates, students would approach the board for some concession. After the circular has passed regarding the universal concession, the students would have to make a request to the Board submitted in writing represented through their schools, before January 31st, 2019.
Along with the writing should be attached a recommendation letter from the Sports Authority of India informing about the competition and the participation of the student in it. After due consideration of the request, the board would conduct exams at a later stage for those students.
The dates of the exams are decided down with mutual convenience from both the student and the board. This provision comes on a condition, that the exams will be conducted before the commencement of the results. Class 12 exams between February 15th and April 3rd of 2019. And, of Class 10 between February 21 and March 29, 2019.
A teacher from a CBSE School in Mumbai says, "It is a very good policy for students who excel at sports at the international level. It should be adopted by all the other boards".
