The city of Hyderabad and most parts of the State of Telangana have received unexpected rains. The two-day spell of rains was already given a warning of by Indian Meteorological Department. These rains were the cause of change in weather from cold to warm, and this results in the rise of humidity levels in the air, causing brief rains. These rains were on a prolonged spell and were also accompanied by thunderstorms.
In some other parts of the state, these rains were as usually ranging from moderate to heavy but were also accompanied by hailstorms and very strong winds. The areas of the State which were under scorching heat did have relief, and the paddy crop was beneficial for excess water.
Unlike these benefits, the rains and strong winds have damaged other crops namely Maize and Mango which do not need much water but need much heat. The standing crops of Maize were flattened to the ground due to these rains. This scene was seen in the district of Karimnagar.
The Mango plants which are at their blooming stage were also damaged due to change in the weather. The bloom was obstructed by rains in the districts of Karimnagar, Rajanna Siricilla and Jagital. These areas were badly hit and crops badly damaged.
The official numbers and figures of the crop losses are yet to be determined by the officials. But an estimated number is given by them. They say about 160 acres of crops were damaged in some Mandals and several hundreds of acres lost in other districts.
The weather forecast for the next few days is also the same. The rains are likely to continue for over 24 hours but will be reduced by the day and by the week. The Trough of the North-South is in its stage of shifting. And so it does cover the areas while moving across Telangana.
Soon the Trough would shift to the east of Andhra Pradesh, but will still give rains in Southern parts of the Telangana State like Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Khammam, Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy.
