Adulteration of food is such a concept which goes so undetected at times. We as consumers do not know which of our daily consumptions are adulterated. In one such a food delivery incident coming up frequently in the news these days, Zomato tops again. This time it's not the fault of the delivery guy anymore. A family from the state of Maharashtra had ordered two Paneer-made dishes from a nearby restaurant using the Zomato app.
The younger one in the family was finding it hard to chew a paneer piece. She then told her dad about it. Her father, Sachin Jamdare took a bit of the same piece and found out that it was definitely not Paneer but some kind of plastic. The father of two children was furious and took the incident to the restaurant they have ordered from.
The response from the Restaurant was not a healthy one. Talking about this incident to a news channel he said, "I ordered chilly paneer, paneer masala for my children. When we started eating, my daughter told me that the paneer was very hard and her teeth were hurting while chewing. When I tasted it, I found fibre".
This 'shock'ing incident got to the news when Mr Sachin lodged an official complaint at the Police Station. This step was taken by the man as the Restaurant refused to look into the issue and sort things out. They had constantly blamed the delivery guy for this.
"They did not entertain my issue, saying that maybe the Zomato delivery guy did something", was what they have said. The official complaint had these statements, "As per the complainant, the food isn't suitable for consumption. The items have been sent for testing. Action will be taken against the respective company once test reports are received".
Zomato responded saying, "We are deeply committed to food safety, quality, and hygiene. We apologise for the anguish this incident must have caused to our user". They have also "Suspended" the particular restaurant from operating through their app.
