Watching many documentaries and videos on polluted water killing the marine lives, this 12-year-old boy was very concerned and moved. He decided to take action to avoid this damage to innocent lives, who were never the cause for the pollution. Our exploitative actions have been lethal to nature, and this boy makes up his mind to save the day. On looking and browsing through educative documentaries, he stumbled upon one of 'Oceanic Waste'.
The video has ended, and the boy's mind awakened. He was then coming across similar videos on the TV News, and the National Geographic Channel as well. He then decides that there must be action taken than just sitting, watching and feeling sad about it.
Hailing from the city of Pune in Maharashtra, Haaziq Kazi then of 10 years old started to look into a solution to this problem of 'oceanic Waste'. Fast forwarding the years to present, the kid was successful in designing a ship which cleans the waters as it sails.
The ship is at its initial Designing stage, is already named to be 'Ervis'. This would eventually suck in all the pollutants and purify it in itself. Thus, saving marine life from any man-made harm. The ship would also have the ability to suck in 100 tonnes of Plastic Pollution from larger water bodies.
According to studies, the plastic that floats on the surface of these vast oceans is of 5 trillion pieces. which is still a very small amount when compared to the total plastic pollution in the oceans. In his words, Kazi says, "There are small animals that have starved to death after swallowing plastic, some have even died or got injured about getting entangled in plastic".
The wonder kid is getting all the help from scientists, researchers, engineers and designers in formulating and completing the whole plan. The statistics of plastic found in marine animals is disheartening but not to this kid, who has this as his motivation.
