MS Dhoni, one of the best cricketers Team India has ever had is undoubtedly a well-deserving sportsperson and carries a charming personality off the pitch. Now, members of the Australian cricket team has hailed former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, ahead of the ODI series against India which starts from January 12 in Sydney. The likes of Tim Paine, Mitchell Marsh and Usman Khawaja had their takes on the veteran Indian cricketer who is the only Indian skipper to have won three ICC titles.
Sources from the BCCI confirmed that Dhoni will come back into the Indian team as a specialist wicket-keeper for the three ODIs. Hailing MS Dhoni's prowess as an international cricketer Australian skipper Paine was all praise for the Ranchi-born veteran. Paine termed him as one of the best wicket-keeper batsmen to have ever played the game of cricket. He further said that Dhoni is right up there with the best in white-ball cricket.
"I think he is one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen to ever play the game," Australia Test skipper and fellow wicketkeeper Paine told cricket.com.au. Australian pacer Pat Cummins hailed Dhoni's ability to remain calm in the toughest of situations. Besides that, he also hailed the former Indian skipper as a great ambassador of the game and his unfazed attitude.
"Winning games from impossible positions and he just seems like the most level, calm captain when he's captaining, just play, nothing seems too big a deal, and just can pull things out of his hat like no one else.
"He's a great ambassador for cricket, being an idol to a billion Indian people back home and he's hugely respected around the world."
Usman Khawaja who was a part of Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2016 said that he likes Dhoni's relaxed attitude towards the game. "He concentrates on the controllables, doesn't worry about the rest, doesn't let a lot faze him, understands there's a lot of up and downs in cricket and I think he's experienced that throughout his career and the way he plays and the way he goes about it" said the Australian left-hander.
The Indian team management will be keeping a close eye on Dhoni's performances in the series building upto the 2019 World Cup.
