Earlier in the year of 2017, the State Government of Telangana has introduced an app-based water connection process for its capital city Hyderabad. For other districts, it would be an online application process. Wherever the origin of application for new water connection is from it would be made available within a speculated time of 18 days. With this success, the State Government has now passed a Government Order subsidizing the water connections.
According to this new GO that has been signed off and passed by the Telangana State Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the cost of getting a safe drinking water connection is only Re 1 to Rs 100. This order applies to all the Municipalities and the Municipal Corporations of the State.
The statistics of Telangana state in regards to required Safe Drinking water connections to the existing numbers are not happy numbers. 7.9 lakh connections are supposed to be given but, so far only 1.20 lakh connections are in full operation.
The cost of having a safe drinking water connection up to the house is Rs6,000 and if it is supposed to be extended into the house then it would be of Rs10,500. These are the amounts that must be deposited in order to get a said drinking water connection.
Now with the new GO that has been passed by the State government, the families who are Below Poverty Line, need to deposit Re1, the others above it need to deposit Rs100 only. The fear and concern of the huge costs that was stopping people from getting connections are now gone.

Talking about this order the State CM says, " Reducing the deposit amount would be a burden on the exchequer and only a nominal deposit amount would be collected as the aim of the government is that, people should consume only safe drinking water and be healthy".
