It is the wedding season again. People are all busy having weddings, conducting weddings and attending weddings. The rituals are now made more glossy with the families choosing to change their ways and try out new combinations. In the city of Kolkata, a Bengali wedding was seen taking place. The wedding has woman priests performing the rituals. This is not the new thing we are going to see at the wedding.
The father of the bride at the time of 'Kanyadaan' did not want to opt for this ritual. He boldly says, " My Daughter is not property to give away". The thought the father has got right at the moment was not really a made up one. But was just his innate nature of how he treats his daughter.
The rightful way to treat people is to treat them as people and not products or commodities. A Female Priest who was at the wedding tweeted about the Bride's father's gesture on the Twitter site. The whole of Twitter is tweeting in support of the family and the wonderful gesture.
There were other negative reactions to this act of progression by the family celebrating their a close personal ceremony.
