Our Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has been returned safely to homeland India by the Pakistan Army and the Military. As soon as his aircraft fell on the Pakistan side he was taken captive by the locals and then Pakistan Army took him to their facility for further interrogation. We Indians have been waiting for his return, but the Pakistani's were first treating him, questioning him and videotaping him.
The Pakistanis took 60 long hours to return our man to us. Abhinandan Varthaman our IAF Wing Commander spent almost a day travelling through the Wagah-Attari border. It was such a delayed process because the Pakistani did not allow a special aircraft to pick our man up from there.
Abhinandan finally crossed the border at 09:25 pm and stepped on Indian land. He was received at the border by his parents and his senior officers. On the other side of the border, he was brought there by the Pakistani Foreign Office director.
In his words, Abhinandan was reported saying, " It's good to be back in my country". There was a huge crowd at the Wagah-Attari border, waiting to catch a glimpse of the hero who returned to India. He was not made to stay longer there and was immediately taken to the nearby airport, from where he was flown to New Delhi.
From the border airport to New Delhi, Abhinandan was flown in an IAF Embraer jet. The Pakistani Officials are said to have violated the Geneva Conventions for making the pilot stay longer than needed. They demanded a "Confession" speech from the Wing Commander, and soon it was circulated in Pakistan Media.
Talking about same Pakistan said that they have tagged Abhinandan as PoW, and was treated " with dignity and in line with international law". They have also claimed that their returning of him to India was a "Peace Gesture" amidst the rising tensions between the two nations.
