AYG (Asian Youth Games) is a multi-sports event subordinate to OCA (Olympic Council of Asia) and is held every four years. Olympic Council of Asia, OCA in abbreviation, was founded on November 26th, 1981. Its predecessor Asian Sports Federation was founded in New Delhi on February 13th, 1949. Headquartered in Kuwait, OCA is the sole organization that administrates Asian Olympic Games comprehensively. Thamake clocked a personal best of two minutes 11.47 seconds to bag the gold ahead of Savinder Kaur (2:14.14) of Malaysia and Sri Lanka's K Dilhani Fernando (2:15.72). Thamake, who was participating as an Independent Olympic athlete as India is serving a ban, led the eight-athlete field all through and won the race comfortably. India's medal tally now has 10 medals (three gold, three silver, four bronze) to remain in ninth spot with one day remaining.
