Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) is going to take oath as the first Chief Minister of India's 29th state Telangana on 2 June. Sources close to the development revealed that KCR will take the oath at 9:30 am to be precise, and many people will attend the programme. The venue for KCR's oath taking ceremony is yet to be decided, but for now two places have been zeroed in; one is Parade grounds as it has huge open space. But keeping in view the hot summer, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) might hold the ceremony within the premises of Raj Bhavan. A Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said on Wednesday the President has appointed Mr. Narasimhan to discharge the functions of the Governor of Telangana, in addition to his present duties as Andhra Pradesh Governor until a permanent arrangement is made.

KCR Oath Taking Ceremony:

According to sources, there was a hot race for ministerial berths in TRS and three MLAs from Greater Hyderabad area are said to be lobbying for ministerial positions in KCR's ministry. TRS sources also said that the party leadership might give the post of Deputy Chief Minister to Mahmood Ali, an MLC from Hyderabad, to develop the party in the city.

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR):

Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao also called as KCR, is the First Chief Minister of Telangana and the president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a Regional Party in India. He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Gajwel constituency of Medak District Telangana.Previously he served as the Member of the Legislative Assembly from Siddipet and also as the Member of Parliament from Mahbubnagar. He took oath as the first Chief Minister of the new state of Telangana on June 2, 2014. He was the cabinet minister for Labour and Employment. KCR was born on 17 February 1954 in Chintamadaka village, Siddipet(old Taluqua) Mandal, Medak District of Hyderabad State. He attained a Masters in Telugu Literature from O.U Arts College Osmania University, Hyderabad.

On 27 April 2001, KCR resigned as Deputy Speaker and TDP MLA. He claimed that the politicians of the region were being suppressed and believed that separatism is the only solution. In April 2001, he formed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to campaign for his separatist agenda.
In the Elections of 2014, KCR announced the first Member of the Legislative Assembly candidate of Telangana Rashtra Samithi from Armoor, Telangana to Asannagari Jeevan Reddy. This was the First ever announcement of MLA Candidates for 2014 Elections by any Political Party in Telangana.

Soon he went onto become the First Chief Minister of Telangana by winning 63 out of 119 Assembly Seats in Telangana including Armoor. The party also won 11 of the 17 Lok Sabha Seats in Telangana and came out as a super power in Telangana Politics. In the elections of 2004, KCR won the Siddipet state assembly constituency and also the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency, both as a TRS candidate. The TRS fought the 2004 general elections in alliance with the Indian National Congress and KCR was one of the five TRS candidates who were returned as MPs.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS):

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is a regional political party in the Southern Indian state of Telangana. Telangana Region as it existed before the formation of Andhra Pradesh State in 1956. K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), the founder and president of Telangana Rashtra Samithi, was a member of the Telugu Desam Party until he quit the party due to differences with Nara Chandrababu Naidu and formed the TRS in 2001 at Siddipet, India Hyderabad. He quit the Membership of AP Legislative Assembly and the post of Deputy Speaker of AP Legislature while floating the Party. The party initially won one third of Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) and one quarter of Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC) in Siddipet within sixty days of the formation of the party.

When the Central government failed to deliver Telangana, the party withdrew support from the government. On 13 September 2006, KCR triggered a by-election in his Lok Sabha constituency of Karimnagar, claiming provocation from one of the Congress MLA. He won the subsequent by-election with a strong majority.

All TRS MLAs and MPs resigned their positions in April 2008 when the Central government did not meet their demand for a separate state in its latest budget session for the 5 year term. The by-election was held on May 29, 2008. In the by-elections, 2008, TRS won 7 out of the 16 assembly segments and 2 out of the 4 loksabha segments, a significant defeat for the party. TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao offered to resign after he lost a number of seats in by-elections but was convinced to remain in office.
