We all know that Kerala is suffering from the worst floods ever and the entire state is in terrible tear, leaving lakhs of people homeless. And the whole country has extended their helping hand and doing whatever they can do to the people to bring Kerala out of this situation. People from different parts of the country are helping Kerala by sending money to CM relief fund.
In the same way, a journalist in Kerala has canceled his daughter’s engagement function and along with the family of his future son-in-law, decided to donate the money kept aside for the ceremony, to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. This is one of the most heart-melting efforts of the family.
Manoj, a journalist from Trivandrum decided to donate the funds of his daughter's engagement ceremony which was scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 19 for the betterment of the sinking state. He shared about his step in a Facebook post.
"The engagement and ring exchange of my daughter Devi and that of Advocate Sudhakaran, son Advocate Gokul, was scheduled for August 19. But considering the unprecedented natural disaster which Kerala has been facing, the function is being canceled. We, both the families, have decided to donate the money set aside for that to the Distress Relief Fund of the Chief Minister,” a Facebook post written by Manoj says.
The state witnessed 37% extra rain since June. The death toll has risen to 324 people. More than 2,00,000 people are displaced from their homes and living in around 1500 relief shelters. Chengannur, Pandalam and Chalakudy towns are almost cut-off due to the flooding, while Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Thrissur, and Ernakulam are the worst-affected districts.
