"A true soldier fights not only because he hates what is in front (enemies) of him, but also because he loves what is behind (people in the country) him." No doubt, giving your life for the country is the biggest sacrifice and there is no replacement for it. In fact, the soldiers feel proud to serve and die for their country. They go sleepless for days, climbs the mountain and terrain just to make sure that there is no infiltration in the region.
In the recent encounter on the Line of Control (LOC) in north Kashmir’s Gurez sector of Bandipora district, four Indian soldiers (Major Kaustubh Rane, Hawaldar Vikram Jeet, rifleman Mandeep Singh, and Hameer Singh) were killed by the terrorists.
Even while dying, Kaustubh Rane showed an unmatched show of courage, stubbornness, and love for the profession during the call of duty. He went on to kill two terrorists before receiving bullets in his chest. As he died for the nation with lots of pride, Rane will always be remembered in our hearts for his bravery.
Kaustubh Rane had been promoted as a Major in January. His last rites were performed with full military honors. The funeral was led by Lt Gen Cherish Mathson, General Officer Commanding in Chief, South Western Command, of the Garhwal Rifles unit as well as Naval Bajaj, IGP, Konkan Range, Thane Rural police and personnel from the 3 Armed forces of the Indian Army.
We have more respect for our Indian soldiers who guard the nation like a ‘shield’ in the Line Of Control. Nearly 20,000 mourners attended the funeral procession as a respect.
Kaustubh Rane was the only child of Prakash Rane and Jyoti Rane and is survived by wife Kanika, sister Kashyapi, 2-year-old son Agastya. Kaustubh was keen on joining the army for a very long time. He had completed six years in the job. Kaustubh had visited his home in January this year and that was their last meeting.
Had it not been great army officers, this nation wouldn’t have survived all the calamities. It’s because of them, our country is maintaining its status quo loud and proud. Respect to each and every soldier out there.
