Sania Mirza has made our country proud on many occasions. She has always displayed an amazing performance & has grabbed too many titles and medals. However, one thing that makes everyone sad is how people troll her over her nationality. Sania never hesitates or feel bad about giving them befitting reply and shut their mouths.

Last Sunday, Sania stole the attention when she adorned the cover of Hindustan Times Brunch. Later, she discussed tennis and some questions related to nationalism because she has married to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik. A lot of controversies surfaced when India Tennis star Sania Mirza decided to marry Malik way back in 2010.

Ever since they got married, both have continued representing their respective countries in their sport and eventually bought glory to their nations. Malik played the vital part of Pakistan team which won the Champions Trophy last year, whereas his wife Sania has been bringing laurels to India by winning as many as six Grandslam titles in the doubles’ event.

However, amidst all the rumors, controversies and people questioning their nationalism, the couple didn't step back and eight years down the line are living happily together. They are also expecting a baby in the month of October for which Sania has taken a break from the game. Even now the social media is bringing Pakistan into her picture.

Responding to all these widespread queries, she opened up on her marriage and cleared that she hasn’t married the cricketer to unite both the nations.

“A lot of people have this notion that Shoaib and I got married to unite the two countries. That is not true. Whenever I have been to Pakistan and I go once every year to meet my in-laws, the love that I get there is immense. The whole country calls me ‘bhabhi’, and they give me so much respect,” she said.

The whole country calls me ‘bhabhi’, and they give me so much respect. I also know that that love is not necessarily for me, it is for my husband who has been a cricket captain and what he means to everyone there. The respect they have for him transcends to the respect for me. Just like when Shoaib comes here, and he gets the love and respect of our countrymen,” she said.

Moreover, the Tennis star also shut down the controversy about her baby being Indian or Pakistani saying that she and Shoaib don’t pay heed to such comments. “Tags are a part of being a public figure. I play for my country, my family, for myself, and so does my husband. We are aware of the responsibilities we carry, but we do not take these tags seriously. They may make for a good headline, but don’t mean anything to us at home,” Sania added.
