We often tend to misspell and mispronounce the common English words. People are habituated to hearing the words widely spoken. They might not have properly read about the syllables and Phonetics. This happens due to various dialects and slangs differing from region to region.
It is called 'Malapropism' when a word is replaced by another similar sounding word making the whole sentence meaningless. Similar to our widespread 'mispronunciation'. Here we are going to talk about the English language. We Indians are not the native English speakers. So these are quite often for us.
Phonetics, the word most of us never heard of, is the one behind all the pronunciations. The sounds associated with the Alphabets of the particular language is the language's Phonetics. Comparatively, our Indian languages have more alphabets than English does and so do our letter sounds.
The colonial powers were not only the native English speakers but also others like the French, Dutch, Irish and the Scottish. Mixed versions of all these usages made the Indian English. A single list for Phonetics does not exist in our English and we are taught differently in different dialects. Too many versions of pronunciations also cause this huge confusion.
Lack of a Standard Teaching Technique all over India, following the same Standard rules only will make things uniform. India is a country of 22 official languages using 13 different scripts, with over 720 dialects or accents or slangs. And we also managed to create another mixed language called 'Hinglish'.
