India's First Fastest Train without an Engine, or called a Locomotive-less train. All our Metro trains run this way, but the country's fastest 'Train 18' is also from the same category. It has completed its trial run on Sunday, where it has reached the speed of 180 kmph.
The train is an Indegeniously made train costing about Rs. 100 Crore in the making. Once the train is set to be operational, then it would be the Country's Fastest Train. Its trial run was in the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section, where it reached its 180 kmph speed.
Railway officials from Delhi have further details to give on this matter. The manufacturers of the train, Integral Coach Factory (ICF), were very proud of the achievement. In the General Manager's words, " The major trials are now over, with just some more remaining. Based on the reports, fine tuning would be done if needed. As of now, no major technical problem has cropped up".
The speeding up the process of getting the train into the mainstream is so stated by the GM of ICF. "We expect Train 18 to commence its commercial run from January 2019. Normally the trials take three months. But now it is happening faster than expected", GM Mani said.
The Shatabdi Express Trains are the short distance trains we use to connect cities. They usually return back to the main station within a day. They are considered the fastest passenger trains so far. If this 'Train 18' comes into full operation, gradually this technology can be used to replace the Shatabdi Express.
But, before things happen, the suitable railway lines, tracks and routes are to be well prepared. The manufacturers, ICF are planning to release another 'Train 18' in this Fiscal year, and four more by the next. Other facilities and features of the 'Train 18' are mentioned below.
Its commencement is expected from January of 2019.
