A bright student in her class, very active in school, has many friends of her own, very popular for her bubbliness, a brave and bold girl has faced an unforeseen sad death. While returning from her school, Sanjali Chanakya was set on fire while she was alive. Two unknown persons have done this while she was walking on the road. They rode a red bike, unidentified they are still out in the open.
The girl was fuming with fire and was lying with little movement in the middle of the road. A bus driver approached her and tried to save her. He rushed to his bus, got a fire extinguisher and dozed the fire off the girl's body. By that time, the 15-year-old had already was 70% affected with burns.
As it was an emergency case, she was rushed to a nearby hospital in Agra, named 'SN Medical College and Hospital'. Her condition was so serious that her health was rapidly deteriorating. Scared for her life, they rushed her to another big hospital named, Safdarjung Hospital, located in Delhi.
Sanjali succumbed to her burns after fighting for two days at the hospital. The nine kilometres walk from Asharfi Devi Chidda Singh Inter-College to her home turned deadly to the young girl with huge hopes and dreams. In an investigation, the father of the girl, a labourer at a factory in Agra has said that there was nothing unusual about her these days.
Sanjali did not have any complaint against anybody, nor did he encounter anyone talking about she feeling uncomfortable. Now that he is deprived of his beloved daughter, he just wants Due Justice from the Law and the ones who have caused this to be duly punished.
News reports have also given suspicious details around this incident. The cousin of the 15-year-old, a 24-year-old man had committed suicide following her death. There is a detailed investigation going on, taken up by the police. The reasons behind her death and the suicide of her cousin are yet to be known.
As part of the Police process, an initial case has been filed. The Superintendent of Police of Agra, Amit Pathak has said, "Initially we had registered an FIR under Sections 326-A (punishment for acid throwing) and it will now be updated to Section 302 (murder) against unknown persons".
About 800 students have come to roads in protest against the incident which is so cruel in its nature. They are demanding a statement and quick action against this issue and such similar issues from the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.
'Justice For Sanjali', raised slogans and candlelit peace marches have been held in her honour. People are demanding for proper justice and safety measures for girls and women in the state.
