Allergies have become very common in the Developed World. Unexpected Allergies can cause temporary discomfort, but they can also be fatal.
A French woman named Estelle had faced with such a similar situation. She had faced with a 'near-fatal' allergy reaction to a hair dye she used. It was not a special coloured hair dye which could possibly have a varied ingredient. But, it was a normal hair dye with general chemicals.
According to Fox News, Estelle told them that her head bulged into the shape of a 'Light Bulb' after the application. Her head grew almost double in size than normal, which was followed by cloudiness in the eyes. As per her words and claims, she told that a chemical in the dye called Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) had caused her this allergic reaction.
The 19-year-old youngster claims that she had first applied a small amount of the dye. This was done in order to test the product first. The testing of the product for its colour and longevity resulted in a fatality. However, one of the chemicals in the colourant resulted in an immediate reaction. Further leading to extreme irritation initially on the scalp and spreading to her face and eyes.
The spread swollen the face double the size of her head. She knew what medication to take for such a reaction. She thought it was a minor one. So, she took an Anti-histamine with plenty of water and a good night's rest. Hoping that all of this would be cured by morning. But, things got worse when she got up.
Estelle's head was swollen to a 24.8 inch. Her tongue was also swollen. On an average, a person's head would be of 22 inches, and this was more than it. The girl was now facing breathing discomfort as the allergy spread to her mouth and throat. She was rushed to a nearby hospital.
The doctors had now administered a shot of Adrenaline, kept under constant observation overnight. After required timely care and attention, her swelling lessened and her breathing came to normal. After she was able to talk she was reported saying, "I almost died. I do not want this to happen to others".
