In a twist of events, a young class 9 girl who was forcefully married to an unknown man was, in turn, being sold to another man by her 'Husband'. She was sedated and conspired against in doing so. The clever girl knew what was going to happen and on the way to another man, she sought help from fellow passengers who happened to be Transgenders. Upon sensing evil, they helped her reach to a nearby police station. Things did not end there.
The unnamed girl is a class 9 student, native of Nawada district, Bihar. She was initially sold to an older man in Kaimur village for Rs 1.5 Lakh. After which she filed a complaint against her parents. They did so on a false assurance that the trade was to her benefit her studies and future.
At first, she fell for that, and later when the man sedated her and forced himself on her she started to revolt. The girl is reported saying, " Besides my parents, my two uncles intoxicated me before selling me. When I regained consciousness, I put up a strong opposition and denied to go with the groom. But my parents and uncles cheated with me, saying the man had no intention to marry me".
After which the girl fleed the place to her parents' house, in a hope of getting rescued. But, to her vain her parents beat her and forced her to return back to her 'Husband'. She was unwelcome anywhere else. The man was about to sell her off to another man in Pune for Rs 6 Lakh.
On her way to escape she narrated her plight to some Transgenders who escorted her to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay station where she was accompanied and helped by her cousin. On knowing about all these developments, her mother rushed and claimed that she was kidnapped by the cousin and demanded to send her back to her 'Husband'. The girl refused.
The Nawada Police are investigating this matter and the statements are being taken. Cases under POSCO and Child Marriage Acts are likely to be filed and executed. Bravo to the girl for strongly refusing and revolting. And to the Transgenders who helped her escape to a safe haven.
