Getting recruited from the campus by various companies under Campus Placements is a huge boost to the Graduation course one is pursuing. Be it Engineering or Management, having a job ready right after the completion of the exam is a dream come true to many aspiring young citizens. But, the sad reality is that not all our grads are having this dream as their reality. According to a recent Parliament Report, less than 60% of our Indian Grads get Campus Placements.
Students get into the course and initially be serious in studying, further into the course, they are deviated by various aspects. Some change their goals, some look out for other options, some try really hard to fit in etc. But not all get to the end product the institute offers. Patience, Preparation and Self-Motivation would deliver the desired results.
Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Satya Pal Singh had said that regarding the statistics. The Average campus placement of the graduates from management, technical and engineering institutions have not even reached up to 60 per cent.
In a Lok Sabha meeting, as a response to a written question, Satya Pal had shared this information with the House of Representatives. In his words, "As per the placement data of the students available with All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE)...not even reached up to 60 per cent".
As what comes as a solution to the above low stats, Satya Pal has added by saying, "To encourage 100 per cent placements to the graduates, AICTE has launched outcome-based model curriculum for UG and PG level courses in engineering and management programmes to make it industry-oriented".
The progress of which shall be monitored and shall be reported by the respective institutions. To this, he added, "Institutions have now been made responsible for arranging internships of their students so as to enhance their employability". The elected representatives are now thinking straight addressing the real issue.
A Good news which must be mentioned here. It is that, according to the India Skills Report, which is a joint initiative of Wheebox, PeopleStrong and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), employability of Engineering grads had increased by 14%. Whereas, others have seen a decline. Skill development and talent focused approach must for the youth of the nation, the future of the nation.
