A doctor is a doctor until the end of their life. Along similar lines, a retired Mysuru Doctor named Dr Prabhulingaswamy Sanganalmath has saved a life of a co-passenger mid-air. He was travelling in Air France, an International Flight scheduled from Paris to Bengaluru. An elderly European Co-passenger had collapsed unconscious, our Doctor on board revived him back to consciousness.
Until Dr Prabhu took this Paris trip, he was a normal retired government doctor, served his duties for years and retired happily. After this flight and his act, he was praised for his demeanour and was lauded by the passengers. On knowing about the act, people all over the internet are following suit.
An elderly European man had collapsed due to a possible cardiac arrest. He had no trace of a pulse and was not breathing. A nurse was also on board who helped the doctor with his due process. The doctor with assistance performed a cardiac massage to resuscitate the man.
After the incident, Dr Prabhu says these, "The air hostesses brought the emergency health kit and oxygen tank. The oxygen supplemented resuscitation was carried out. The patient started speaking and drank juice after a couple of hours. He was under observation until the flight landed in Bengaluru and was then taken to the airport clinic for further examination".
The flight crew on board, the fellow passengers and the ground staff on returning have expressed their gratitude towards the Doctor. He is a simple soul and has replied saying that he was just doing his duties. This shows that certain noble professions do not end with retirement.
The matter did not end here. In the words of our Dr Prabhulingaswamy, we are yet to hear this surprise " The next day I got a message from Vincent Feuillie of Air France Passenger Medical Service thanking me for the medical assistance. Now, the airline has offered me a voucher worth 100 Euros as a token of appreciation".
We are all in much debt to certain similar professions and we shall always be a step ahead in appreciating their efforts.
