Over the years, we are learning and gulping the definitions of ‘hero’ over and over, until a person comes and redefine heroism and humanity all over again. We all have heard about revenge stories that always make a good masala movie or comic. Here is one man whose real-life story is much more inspiring than any of those. He has taken revenge from a mad villain called 'slavery' by standing in court years later to fight for a rape victim.
“Today, my son Amar Lal stood in the court for a 17 yr old rape survivor. It is our proudest moment as parents of this bright young lawyer who we rescued from inter-generational slavery at the age of 5. He stayed at Bal Ashram until he completed his education. Way to go” says Mr Kailash Satyarthi.
Mr Kailash is an Indian children's rights activist who had a great share in setting Amal free from slavery years ago. The man is the founder of Bachpan Bachao Andolan, the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, Global March Against Child Labour, and GoodWeave International. The child -Amar was rescued by Bachpan Bachao Andolan which was undertaken by Mr Satyarthi himself.
“I was working to fix a telephone pole when bhaisaab ji (Kailash Satyarthi) saw me. I was five-years-old when I was rescued by the Bachpan Bachao Andolan. I want to become a lawyer and contribute to the cause,” Amar claimed in an interview with Deccan Herald. “We belong to the Banjara community. We never get a chance to attend school as we keep travelling from one place to another.”

Amar -originally from Rajasthan- is studying law in Noida, Uttar Pradesh and recently fought for a 17 years old rape victim. The story narrates the heroism of Amar Lal and Mr Kailash Satyarthi as well. We definitely need more people like them in our society.
