The son of evergreen megastar Rishi Kapoor, 36 years old Ranbir Kapoor is surely a big name in Bollywood now. With Khans ruling Bollywood for years, it is no easy task to break their records or to compete them for one. But seems like, the young lad of Kapoor family is here to rule and break the stereotyping.
With the much hype over Shahrukh Khan starrer Zero and 2.O starring the duo of Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, 2018 was supposed to end, breaking all the records in favour of the two. But Ranbir Kapoor’s acting and Sanjay Dutt’s fan power prevailed over anything.
The teaser of Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest hit –Sanju got 62 million views which is a far bigger a number than that of 2.O’s (51 million), Baahubali's (20 million), Dangal's Zero’s (42 million). With this number, Sanju can be the one with the most viewed teaser among any Bollywood movie in 2018.
Ranbir had started his career with Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed ‘Saawariya’ and went on to give hits like Wake Up Sid, Bachna Ae Haseeno, and Ae Dil Hai Muskil. He has earned the Filmfare Award for Best Actor back to back in 2012 and 2013 for his films Barfi and Rockstar. He also owns Filmfare Award for Best Newcomer for Saawariya in 2007 and many others significant awards.
Sanju is the biggest hit of the actor and probably of 2018. It has earned a sum of rupees 585 crores worldwide, making it the 8th highest grosser of Bollywood. Zero and 2.O coming to the race, it might get difficult for Ranbir Kapoor’s masterpiece to keep holding to its position but it surely will be loved and remembered by the audience always.
Coming to competition, 2.O had already earned rupees 110 crores, selling broadcasting rights to Zee group, before the release only. Released on 29th December 2018, 2.0 is a sequel to 2010 movie Ethiran, starring Rajnikanth; and might break the records of Sanju soon.
