The very popular online game, 'PlayerUnknown Battle Grounds', in short PUBG, is an online multi-player battle royale game. The game is of addictive nature, which video game isn't. There are instances where kids and adults alike are getting treated for PUBG Addiction. In such a scenario, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has issued a circular 'BANNING THE GAME' in its Hostel premises.
The college management has recently issued an Official Circular 'Banning the Students from playing the online PUBG Game'. The photo of the circular has gone viral in Instagram and Reddit where it has both hay and naysayers. Banning students from playing this particular very addictive game in their hostel rooms is what was aimed at.
The circular says, " It has come to our notice that few students are playing online games like 'PUBG' which is NOT PERMITTED". Supporting their cause, they have also mentioned that playing this game is causing disturbances to other hostelers who do not engage themselves in such games.
The games are "spoiling the atmosphere of the hostel", and "strictly" warning students from, " playing online games and betting for such games", which " are totally prohibited in VIT". The Naysayers or the defaulters will be duly punished based on the " VIT CODE OF CONDUCT" Violations.
Emphasising more on the ever beneficial physical activities the circular read, "Students are asked to concentrate on physical games or sports and give more importance to their career growth". An earlier attempt on promoting this cause, VIT has released a video on their Instagram page, dedicating to all their students against excessive use of Smartphones.

The thread mentioning the ban has gone viral on the internet, especially on the Reddit Platform. Their responses are as follows.
The Associate Chief Warden of the Men's Hostel has verified with the NewIndianExpress, trashing out the rumours of all this being fake by a statement. "Yes, we issued the circular around Friday last week", doting to its "addictive nature", he added, "We decided to take action after receiving complaints from a faction of students".
Furthermore, Mr Mohanasundaram had said this, "Students were missing classes and it created a lot of commotion in the hostel premises".

- "Aren’t colleges for adults?"
- "If you’re living in a hostel, you have to also keep in mind about the roommate who is there to study. You can’t play PUBG all night like ‘mah lyf, mah rules’ and bark while disturbing others who are paying through their nose to study there"
