Landing on the moon was the biggest step which is a milestone in the history of Mankind. every nation after the historic attempt by the United States has been trying to land on the moon. But the European Space Agency (ESA) has other things in mind. Creating a stir in the space technology and advancements of the world, the European Space Agency wants to conduct mining on the surface of the moon.
Mining the land without much gravity and that which is very varied from the Earth is quite risky. But the ESA is planning to do it by the year 2025. This plan is possible with a permanent base on the Moon and the survival of the Astronauts on it. The ESA has already signed memos and deals with a rocket making company named, Ariane Group for this purpose.
The rocket making company is now asked to make a base on the moon that would facilitate mining on the celestial lunar surface. In order to do this, the ones who are supposed to mine the moon must reach the moon by 2025 and start with their work.
Not for a longer time than a year, this mining contract on the moon is only for a year. The regolith mines on the lunar surface are to be tapped for human use or for preservation for further study and examination. The space agency says, "As ESA and other agencies prepare to send humans back to the Moon - this time to stay...".
"...technologies that make use of materials available in space (in-situ resource utilisation) are seen as key to sustainability, and a stepping stone in humankind's adventure to Mars and farther into the Solar system". Furthermore, the ESA has said, "In the longer term, resources in space may even be used on Earth".
Talking about the ore they said, "Regolith is an ore from which it is possible to extract water and oxygen, thus enabling an independent human presence on the Moon to be envisaged, capable of producing the fuel needed for more distant exploratory missions".
