Proteins are the essential nutrients in the working of the human body. The building blocks of the body, the minimalistic tissues are also the makings of the protein molecules. They also form the main thick source of energy in the human body. Our balanced dietary intake must contain proteins as the main ingredient, and they can be obtained through various sources. A rich protein diet can gain us abundant muscle and not let fat store in our bodies.



Following are the top seven foods which are rich protein sources originating from plant, dairy and meat sources. The proteins are known for enriching our overall health, boosting metabolism, building repairing abilities of the tissues, increase our energy levels and improve our immunity.

There are various protein sources and not all provide us with the necessary 8 amino acids. A complete or a good source of protein consist of all these amino acid varieties. Consumption of good rich sources of protein can show more results than incomplete sources.


1. Eggs

Containing all the necessary amino acids, eggs are the main richest protein source of all. Apart from being rich in proteins, the eggs also contain essential vitamins and minerals along with little amounts of needed healthy fats. Having eggs post workout, as a breakfast source even without a workout session can give us much effect.


2. Pulses and Cereals

Individually taken these pulses and cereals are poor sources of protein. Not one pulse variety or one cereal variety contains all the essential amino acids together. But, if consumed as a whole meal, they form a rich source of protein. These protein sources are arising from the plants. And they can easily act as a substitute for the egg.


3. Quinoa

This is a plant species from the same family spinach comes from. It is a variety of grain plant, usually collected for its edible seeds. These not similar to rice or wheat. This is rich in proteins, dietary fibres, vitamin B complex and other essential minerals. Making Pulao with this, in combination with vegetables is the best way to eat it.


4. Tofu

Unlike the milk-based paneer, this is tofu made out of soya milk. Paneer from soya milk to be precise. This is a source of high-quality protein which does a lot in helping us not gain weight everytime we eat it. It is a less fat variety of paneer and has not so impressive taste. But, it is good for the heart and also enhances our athletic abilities.


5. Chicken


Immediate and an easy source of protein is Chicken. Next to the egg of course. This being a meat outcome is packed with muscle-building protein which can help us gain the essential muscle instead of fat. Having more muscle is not a stress tot he heart unlike having more fat on the body. Cardio-vascular diseases are at low risk with consumption of Chicken.


6. Amaranth seeds- Rajgira

Coming from the same family of spinach as quinoa, these are also of the same category. Called as Rajgira they are associated with having a tough earthy raw flavour. Rich in amino acids of the essential variety they are a great source of protein, and a great alternative to the meat and dairy varieties. Vegan-friendly.


7. Whey Protein

This kind of protein is a one of a kind protein source which has all the nine amino acids both essential and non-compulsive. The lactose content people usually worry about is not much present in this. Dairy milk, goat milk, ricotta variety of cheese, yoghurt (curd) and normal cheese are its sources.
