Every year in the month of February, our Nation dedicates a week for Road Safety. Aiming at creating awareness among the passengers that being safe and following rules while on the roads, would save them form ghastly accidents and incidences. This Government Organised Event gets its support form various NGOs, Charitable Organisations and the Private Firms too. The Road Safet Week in 2019 extends from February 4th to February 10th.
On the occasion of the event, extending their support, Hyderabad City Traffic Police has planned on conducting a '3 Km Walk' to spread awareness. Many parts of the city will be covered in this event. The billboards and arrangements have thus been made, and the walk went well.
9th of February was the day when this walk was held and it was a huge success. This walk was held from the city iconic monument, the Charminar. The event had many school children, college students, and many other volunteers walking with posters and slogans depicting road safety.
Accompanying them and educating the gatherers about the various safety measures, Addl. Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Kumar has also joined the 1000s of students in the walk. The institutions of the Traffic South District were seen involved in the event.
As the event had school students involved, the Addl Commissioner has explained to them the very basics of traffic rules. The 'ABC' of why we need to follow rules were conveyed by him. Furthermore, he has spoken about, " How to reduce Road fatal accidents in Hyderabad City?", and also inspired the students to follow the required traffic rules.
"Helmet wearing – A choice between life and death" was quoted by one of the dignitaries present there. And has urged all motorcycle riders and pillion riders to wear a helmet while driving. Not only this one event covering 1000s of students but also there were also other traffic awareness Programs conducted educating over 5000 people.
Hyderabad City traffic Police and other police personnel as well are striving to make the City of Hyderabad Accident-Free.
