Central Government's FAME Fleet of electric buses is on the go. They have now been launched successfully in the city of Hyderabad. There surely are other sets of electric buses which have seen a run in other states as well, but this fleet is of a greater difference. The first outcome from the Central Government's policy of FAME. Which works to increase the usage of an environmental friendly electricity-run public transport system.
Telangana state's capital city Hyderabad will be the first Indian City to source the Fleet from FAME, which stands for Faster Adoption and Manufacture of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. This was a central scheme launched way back in the year of 2015. The Union Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises is behind this scheme.
The whole nation of India is planned to have electrically mobilised transport system. For which the government has planned for a 'National Electric Mobility Mission Plan'. This FAME Fleet of vehicles also come into action through this plan. The FAME has started to give a push to such vehicular production through incentives and subsidies.
Ten other Indian states have also signed up for the fleet ut the state of Telangana approached this on a fast track basis. Soon in about a week's time, these buses will be on the roads of the Hyderabad City. They would be connecting various parts of the city tot he Rajiv Gandhi International airport of Shamshabad.
As of now, these buses are made for an Airport Shuttle Service. The TSRTC Officials have started off this move with 40 such buses in action initially. The buses once charged can run up to 300 km, keeping in mind the city roads and traffic conditions. Miyapur andCantonment station will be having charging facilities for these buses.
Air-conditioned, surveillance cameras, wheel-chairs and wheel-chair friendly entry and exit doors are the facilities these buses provide us. With a seating capacity of 38 plus one, these buses will soon replace the present shuttle service fleet once fully operational.
