Coming from the diverse group in the family Reptilia are these Dinosaurs. Found to have lived a 240 million years ago still give us chills about how fierce they were at those times. The major sized predators dominated the world before the Great Dying event. A newly found dinosaur species seems to have standing out among its crowd really well. It has more style and suave than most of us now in this era. Why so? Read on.
Estimated to have lived a 140 million years ago is this newly discovered herbivore Bajadasaurus pronuspinax. Even though it was a herbivore, it did not look as such. It has spikes growing from its head along its neck area. It looked as though it was crossed between a dinosaur and a porcupine.
" The sauropods are the big dinosaurs with long necks and long tails, but specifically this is a small family within the sauropods which were about 9 or 10 metres in length". From the Sauropod family looking like porcupines are these new dinosaurs.
According to the palaeontologist named Pablo Gallina from the National Scientific and Technical Research Council in Argentina, these were the details of the aid spiky dinosaur. When the team of palaeontologists found this specimen in the Argentinian country, they could not initially identify it.
But, the specimen's skull was found very well intact. It had its whole spine in its formation and was taken very good care for preservation. These spiny protrusions are a modification to their times. But what were they used for in those times? This question is left to be answered by the researchers.

As per some assumptions it is said that " We believe that the long and sharp spines - very long and thin - on the neck and back of Bajadasaurus and Amargasaurus cazaui (another dicraeosaurid) must have been to deter possible predators. We think that had they been just bare bone structures or covered only by skin, they could have been easily broken or fractured with a blow or when being attacked by other animals". Says Pablo Gallina.
"It wouldn't be an active defence, but rather a passive defence - that is, a kind of warning defence. These are structures that give a warning to carnivores that may approach. A carnivore comes up, sees a gigantic spiny structure and thinks twice".
