India recently has taken a lead in ODI series against New Zealand by 3-0 and seems to be in a great form and 2019 has been kind to the team except for a few controversies that surrounded players H. Pandya and KL. Rahul. The word was doing rounds that MS Dhoni might get retired soon considering his bad form on the field, but the man of the hour took home the man-of-the-series award in the start of this year becoming the oldest Indian to achieve this feat. The achievement has shut the mouths of rumours that were suggesting the retirement of the wicket-keeper batsman. Virat was seen praising the former captain, and recently the cricketer also praised Shubham Gill who is the newest face of Indian cricket representing Internationally.
"I think there are some outstanding talents. We saw Prithvi Shaw grab the opportunity with both hands. Shubman is a very exciting talent and I saw him bat in the nets and I was like wow I was not even 10 per cent of that when I was 19," Virat claimed.
"So, that's the confidence that they carry and it's great for Indian cricket, the standard keeps going up and the guys coming in can make those impact performances straightaway. And, we are more than happy to give them chances and provide them with the space to grow."
Shubham has been player of the series for the Under 19 world cup and was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders last year when he had played exceptionally well and reminded everyone of the talent he possesses. It would be a delight to see the young lad playing for India more internationally and that might happen very soon considering the good word-of-mouth the player has been receiving.
