The mixed versions of the Surgical Air Strike news from both India and Pakistan, are creating a cloud over the issue. And the media which is trying to dig as much as possible around it is trying to clear that cloud and give to the world a clarity on it. The number of casualties, the number of arms used etc are being interviewed by the media. To this, the Indian Air Force's Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa gives a befitting reply to all those media questions.
Chief added to this by saying, " IAF is not in a postilion to clarify the number of casualties. The government will clarify that. We don’t count human casualties, we count what targets we have hit or not".
Briefing about the use of MIG 21 Fighter Jets, and their capability to take part in a battle the Air Chief says, " One is a planned operation in which you plan & carry out. But when an adversary does a strike on you, every available aircraft goes in, irrespective of which aircraft it is. All aircraft are capable of fighting the enemy".
In the end, concluding about the MIG 21, he says, " The Mig-21 Bison is a capable aircraft, it has been upgraded, it has better radar, air-to-air missiles and better weapons system". This is how the IAF Chief has conducted and concluded the press meet.
The Air Chief Marshal put up a press conference to address the media on this issue. He clears all the doubts by saying, " The target has been clearly amplified by FS in his statement. If we plan to hit the target, we hit the target, otherwise, why would he (Pak PM) have responded, if we dropped bom*s in the jungles why would he respond. We hit our target. The air force doesn’t calculate casualty numbers, the government does that".
Chief added to this by saying, " IAF is not in a postilion to clarify the number of casualties. The government will clarify that. We don’t count human casualties, we count what targets we have hit or not".
Talking about the safe return of our Indian wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, Air Chief Marshal had this to say, " Whether he (Wing Commander Abhinandan) flies or not, depends on his medical fitness. That’s why post-ejection, he has undergone a medical check. Whatever treatment required, will be given. Once we get his medical fitness, he will get into fighter cockpit".
